From 2010 we divided our time between Colomer Javea and a detached 4-bedded 1980s property that we could lock up and leave, with a minimum maintenance garden. It was in Longwick just outside Princes Risborough. Matt was living in Dubai so used it whenever he was back to see his children and so it was fairly regularly though lightly used.
We were coming back to the UK every six weeks to see Jane’s Mum in her nursing home. It was pretty thankless because she often failed to recognise us, when there appeared to be some connection it was gone and news like ‘It’s your birthday’ had to be repeated. But Jane was an only child and felt the obligation. Vi was a fighter and survived like this for four years before succumbing to her regular infections and TIAs.
