Welschriesling:
This white wine grape variety is grown throughout Central Europe, it has no relationship with the Riesling from the Rhine. The name in German means ‘Romanic Riesling’ (as in Romance language and not Romantic).

It may have been brought to Central Europe by the ancient Romans. However, the Croatian name Graševina suggests that the origin might be somewhere to the east of the Balkans.

It is said by some to have aromas of nuts and hay.

Varieties/Mutations
According to DNA analyses carried out in 2021, it was a natural cross between Coccalona Nera and an unknown father variety.
