| Tempranillo This was considered originally as a slightly rustic northern Spanish grape of strictly local appeal. It is believed that it originated in Rioja. It is best known today for being the main ingredient of red Rioja, and appears as Tinto Fino in Castilla y Leon, a key part of Ribera del Duero wines. Its name means ‘the small early one’.
