A Child’s History of England – 1851 – a minor work

This was published in instalments within Household Words from Jan 1851 to Dec 1953.

It provided a child’s version of the history of England, from the Roman invasion of 55 BCE to the Glorious Revolution of 1688, when William of Orange took over from James II.

Being no historian, Dickens drew upon the works of others, to produce a rather Protestant-leaning account of the period.
