Rhodes’ company De Beers Consolidated Minesco-owned presented an attractive display, which was later transported to the 1893 Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition.

The event lost £14,195, but this was covered by Rhodes. The Fine Art Hall was used by the Kimberley Rifles and later used as a typhoid hospital during the Boer War.
