|Name:||National Exhibition – Bordeaux, Lille, Dijon and Toulouse|
|Dates:||1835 – Bordeaux and Lille; 1836 – Dijon and Toulouse|
The successful Parisian events encouraged other French cities to have national events of their own – Nantes in 1827 and these four cities in 1835/6. These ‘national events’ grew to use a great deal of cultural activity and jingoistic pageantry, some of it having a distinct;y local flavour.
This in turn prompted other European cities to consider events of their own.
